Crenshaw
Before Thanksgiving break, we finished Crenshaw, a new book by Katherine Applegate.

The book centers on Jackson, a boy whose family struggles to make ends meet and has spent some time living in their car in the past. When times are tough, Jackson's imaginary friend, Crenshaw, a giant cat, always shows up. This is a touching and thought provoking book.
Here are our responses to Crenshaw on Padlet:

The Spiderwick Chronicles Book Review
The SpiderWick Chronicles
Review by Akshaj
Three ordinary kids Simon, Jared, and Helen Grace discover an ancient book in their creepy household attic. The house belonged to their aunt who ‘supposedly’ was mad. She is now in an asylum. She kept saying that fairies bring her food. Could their book be the secret to their aunt's life and fairies?
Will they discover the secret? Read SpiderWick Chronicles and find out!
This book was 10 out of 10. I loved how the author described it. It even gave me chills! The author is Holly Black. It is short but good. When I finished the first I wanted to read more. Warning!! It is creepy!Friday, September 11, 2015
8/31/15-9/4/15 Update
By: Lily and Marley
Mondays are always fun in this class! Here is this picture of when we were working on genius hour. These two girls are looking at each others topics and giving suggestions.
Genius hour is a time for us to research a topic that we love. It’s one of the best parts of the day!
I love Genius Hour!!!
On Wednesday we did book clubs and it was so fun to talk about the books!
This group is reading Rules by Cynthia Lord
This group is reading The Watsons go to Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis.
These girls are working on plot diagrams!
Plot diagrams are really helpful when summarizing a book or video.
On Thursday we made “helicopters” out of paper for our S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering, and math) challenge.
We also finished Fish in a Tree.
