Friday Update 10/31/14

Hello, this is Marissa and Alanna writing what we did this week!

This week was Red Ribbon Week and spirit week!

On Tuesday it was twin day! You had to wear matching clothing with your friend!

On Wednesday, we dressed up wacky with mismatched clothes. Especially Alanna.

On Wednesday we had market day and we bought things that second grade made with fake money. They did a really good job at making the things they sold. They also did nails, face painting, and tattoos which were really good.

On Halloween, it was cool seeing all the different costumes and how creative people were. We played Halloween Math Bingo and Halloween Jot Thoughts. We got cookies, ring pops, chips, and we passed out the candy grams which were either a popcorn hand or a lollipop. Alanna tricked everybody by giving them a little package with a candy wrapper and one piece of candy.

It was a super fun week because all week we had spirit days so we could dress up.

Have a Happy Halloween and get a lot of candy!!!!!

Friday Update 10/10/14

Hi this is Mimi and Arielle. We are so awesome - we are writing this blog for you!

This is our ghost door designed by Maddy and created by Maddy, Mia, and Karoliena. We did a vote with the class to choose which door design we would put up on our door. The whole school was doing it, and my personal favorite is Mrs. Luhrsen’s doors. She had some kind of creature with a monocle and a leech on her other door. You have to see it for yourself to actually know what I’m talking about.

Down below there are some pictures showing our eyes on our book Wonder. It’s from people from the book’s point of view. You show what you think they will see from their own perspective.

This was done by Diana.

This was done by Maggie.

This was done by Paul.

Our counselor, Mrs. Hines, started a Kind Kids Club. It’s where awesome kids go to be kind to people. October is the month 5th graders get to be in Kind Kids Club. 1st graders did it in September. 5th graders have to do at least 20 kind thing to help people out. 1st graders had to do at least 10 kind things.

On Thursday we had our Enrichment Showcase Extravaganza! If I do recall, it was in the cafeteria right after lunch. The four different enrichments were:
#1. Script-writing, led by Mrs. Luhrsen.
#2. Speech led by Mr. Fassler
#3. Art led by my most favorite teacher ever who is so very awesome Mrs. Rohrbacker!
#4 Is engineering led by Ms. Bullock.
The conclusion is everybody had a good time!☺

Hi, it's Mrs. Rohrbacker now! I would like to introduce our Wonder point of view trailers. We worked really hard on these! Wonder is a book about August, a boy with facial deformities who goes to school for the first time. In our class, we broke into 9 groups and each group made a trailer about the book from a particular character's point of view. Here they are!

Via's point of view - Via is August's older sister.

Miranda's point of view - Miranda is Via's best friend, and has known August since he was a baby.

August's point of view - August is the main character in Wonder.

Summer's point of view - Summer is a girl who immediately befriends August when he goes to school.

Jack's point of view - Jack is one of August's good friends at school.

Mr. Tushman's point of view - Mr. Tushman is the principal at Beecher Prep, August's middle school.

Justin's point of view - Justin is Via's boyfriend.

Julian's point of view - Julian is the boy who bullies August but later realizes he has made a mistake.

Mrs. Albans point of view - Mrs. Albans is Julian's mother. She is against August being at Beecher Prep.

I hope you enjoyed our trailers!
